Family Day

2 min read
It's Family Day here in good old Alberta. I spent the weekend entertaining my brother-in-law and his wife. We played rock band and ate lots of food. It was good times. :)I also spent some time drawing and coloring a drawing or two. And of course, reading manga. Gotta have my manga :) I'm trying to find projects to keep me practicing drawing.

I LOVE Nanowrimo!!! It's the best idea ever! My story this year will be about a girl named Matilda who is somehow gains the ability to get the perfect revenge on people. At first she gets revenge on her boss (who deserved it, of course). Then someone asks her to get revenge for them. Pretty soon she has tonnes of word-of-mouth clients that want to request her services to get revenge on people who've screwed them.

My characters thought up so far are: Matilda Matilda - The Revenge Files by ecaysis and Reno Reno - The Revenge Files by ecaysis.

Naturally, I've had to look up all sorts of awesome ways to get revenge - strictly for research purposes, of course >:D

I've been working on a Bleach cosplay! I bought the fabric for a shinigami costume. So far I've got the hadajuban (worn underneath the kimono, it's white) mostly constructed. If I stop being lazy I could get both that and the kimono done in one day, but... well, I'm lazy. I'm not 100% which character I'm going to be, though. I was thinking of trying out Ichigo. I'm not sure if I look too girly to pull that off, though. Oh well. I'll buy an Ichigo wig and if I look like an uke Ichigo, I'll make another costume and my man can be Ichigo for some role playing cosplay fun.

In other news, The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny!!!

I Am Still Alive
Yeesh. It's been a while since I've actually been on Deviantart. I come back and all these people have thanked me for faving them. I feel bad for not answering back. It kind of sucks that I missed some opportunities to get to know some great people. Oh well, I'll get up the courage to properly introduce myself someday (I faved them because I worship their art. What is the proper way to introduce yourself to a personal icon without stuttering too badly?).

Anyhoo, I've been back for a bit now and have uploaded some previous artwork as well as favorited some more stuff. This place has so many amazing artists! I feel the urge to whip out my pencil and some paper and start drawing, as well as a desire to hide under a rock from the shame of my chicken scratch drawings. Unfortunately, I have made a pact with myself to stop procrastinating and get doing. How else are dreams supposed to come true. Believe it!

Since people on Deviantart are well, artsy, I have no doubt a lot of you have heard of Nanowrimo. National Novel Writing Month. This event was started in the early 2000's as a way for people to support each other in their novel writing efforts. I mean, who hasn't wanted to write a novel at some point in their life, right?

So a website was started in an effort to get people to join the literary cause. Goals were set up. The point of the whole thing is to write 50,000 words in one month. November is the official Nanowrimo month, so that gives 31 days. That's a lot of words.

I have attempted this many times since I've always wanted to write a book. However, I seem to have a wee bit of a problem finishing my novels. So when the writing bug hit late April, I decided to seize the carp and get working on my novel. So far, so good. I'm almost at 40,000 words, but I've reset my goal to 75,000 since that's more novel sized. If I write 2000 words each day for the next two weeks, I'll get there.

My husband is out of town this weekend though, so I thought that this might be a good opportunity to go balls to the walls and actually finish it. Whew. Can I do 30,000 words in three days? It's physically possible, but we'll have to see.

Upcoming artwork that I've been doing of my characters to help me 'understand them better' - aka an excellent way to procrastinate that writing. :)

The Fine Arts

Well, I made a deal with my sister Nakedvanilla to do some collaboration artwork. We'll each draw something based on a theme we both have decided on, then send our drawings to each other. Then we color the drawing that has been sent to us, and put it all up on Deviant Art. The idea is to do this once per week. I'm a little slow this week, because my husband and I have decided to write a novel in the month of August. That's right. 31 days to write 50,000 words.

This idea is not original, it's a variation of Nanowrimo, I just didn't want to wait until November to write a novel. I have the momentum now, dammit, and I'm taking full advantage of that! So far so good. I've discovered some lovely cafes to visit during August, and I have my creative writing hats ready to wear.

So thumbs up to great art and the written word!
